Bastrop Intermediate School & SiSTEM Tutoring

SiSTEM’s proven history of increasing academic growth in underserved populations is well-documented and grounded in a practice that promotes equity. Additionally, we have secured contracts worth over $1,000,000 since 2019.  The case studies that follow demonstrate SiSTEM’s ability to simultaneously execute multiple contracts for diverse student populations and school types.

Let's dive into one of our recent partnerships, where SiSTEM worked with supporting Bastrop Schools! 

SiSTEM is currently engaged in a 3 year contract with Bastrop Intermediate School that runs from 2021-2024. 61% of the student body at BIS is classified as ELL/LEP, 70% as At-Risk and 70% as Economically Disadvantaged. We recruited and trained tutors to work with students 4 times per week, 45 minutes per tutoring session in math and reading.  We worked to align our tutoring sessions and materials to reflect the TEKS objectives taught in class. The close collaboration with the campus teachers and leadership led to measurable results.  SiSTEM provided 1800 hours of tutoring to 200 students over the Spring Semester of 2022.  92% of students attended 100% of the tutorial sessions, and 50% of students moved from “Did Not Meet Standard” to “Approaches Grade Level” or “Meets Grade Level” over the course of 8 weeks. We look forward to continued impact and progress over the course of this year and next.
